About this property

Treehouse "Indiana Jones"

The "Indiana Jones" Treehouse is a romantic and adventurous place to spend a night. Cross a hanging bridge (no worries, no hungry crocodiles below this one) to get to this quaint bungalow nestled amongst the trees.
Enjoy your morning coffee under the covered deck and feel the movement as the wind howls through the trees.

The office is open from 8am to 10pm, so if you have any questions regarding your stay or trip we will be happy to assist you.

While this accommodation is a private room in a quiet corner of the property, all of our other amenities are communal. There are 3 toilet stalls. The showers are quarter operated 25 cents per minute of water. You can cook food in our communal kitchen, or sit around the bonfire to meet other travelers. Our coffeehouse on site sells coffee, espresso drinks, and tea between 7am and 12pm.

Vacation
This was a nice location. The tree house was clean, sturdy and well kept. We really enjoyed our time. We do wish there was better parking but other than that it was great!

About the host

Hosted by Sven Haltmann

Host profile image
Sven came to Alaska from Switzerland in 2001 in search of new opportunities and adventures. He ran the Iditarod with his crew of sled dogs for many winters and in the summer time he worked for the hostel that he now owns. Running his hostel has been a longtime dream of his and a job that feels like vacation every day of the summer. Meeting new people and providing a fun environment at his hostel has become his passion for the past 8 years. He enjoys lots of time outdoors with his dog Heidi and discovering new corners of Alaska.

Sven was a tour guide on the island of Crete and Tenerife when he was 22 and accumulated a good amount of knowledge about tourism and customer care. He runs his hostel very meticulous while at the same time, making his guests feel like they are at a home away from home.

Why they chose this property

Sven’s Basecamp Hostel is where adventurers in Alaska begin a journey, meet up after a trip, or take a much-needed rest. Mountaineers, amateur naturalist, wilderness guides, motorcyclists, and those looking to explore Alaska find friends and relaxation here like nowhere else in Fairbanks.

Centrally Located between two major ports of entry we are 3.5 miles from Fairbanks International Airport and 3.5 miles from the Fairbanks train station.

You will be within a mile of grocery stores and supply store, and minutes away from some of our favorite bars and restaurants where the locals like to go.

You’ll love your stay because of the private unique glamping experience, the meals you will cook and share (likely with new friends) in the community kitchen, and the memories you will probably value for a lifetime.

Come alone or bring family and friends. We even welcome your dog on site- leashed- if they are well behaved and welcoming to others.

The beds are fitted with sheets and pillows.

The bathroom and quarter-operated shower are conveniently located in our community bath house nearby.

What makes this property unique

Come to our front desk between 8am and 10pm for check in/check out, and questions about your stay or what to do around Fairbanks. Our staff is happy to help!

For check-ins after 10pm, we will leave self check-in instructions on the front steps of our office to guide you to your accommodations for the night.
